My massage therapy career began after 25 years in Arts Management, working at Cleveland Opera and then at the Cleveland Institute of Art as Director of Continuing Education + Community Outreach. I am a graduate of Baldwin Wallace University and Harmony Path School of Massage Therapy.
I studied Reiki at St. Joseph Wellness Center (now River’s Edge) as well as at Ursuline College. My certifications also include Manual Lymph Drainage and Pediatric Massage from the Academy of Lymphatic Studies and the Liddle Kidz Foundation, respectively.
My many years of creative work and experience transcend to a rhythmical and intuitive approach to massage, helping to guide the body to release tension and stress and find balance and relaxation. To me, massage is just another form of art and I have been a happy massage artist for over a decade.
Speaking of art, I have always loved the beautiful lines of cars and trucks, so, perhaps silly, my combination of the car body and the human body seems natural to me. Some folks take better care of their cars than they do their own bodies - hopefully I can help balance that out!
At 16, I was lucky enough (thanks to my generous Uncle Karl and to my mechanically inclined Brother Marty) to have a ‘69 Chevelle SS! It was black with red pin stripping and I felt so very cool driving it! Before becoming parents, my husband and I had several pickup trucks which I still miss. Now that our son is driving himself, we’re on the hunt for a classic 1960’s truck. If you’ve got one tucked away in a garage, please let me know!
Thank you,
Lisa
I am rather proud of the lamp I made with the help of my brother and my son. My brother found the car parts which include a fly wheel, a crankshaft, a camshaft, and a distributor cap. My son and I spent many hours cleaning oil and grime off the parts and then clear coated each piece. Next, my brother helped bolt the parts together and wire it up to bring the magic of light to life. The last part was putting a lamp shade on top, or rather, a round air filter.
On display in my shop, you’ll find lots of cool old oil cans, treasures from my Dad and my Dad-in-Law. Some even date from the 1930s.
I was so touched to be presented with this beautiful painting of a truck from artist Al Buchta. It is a 1936 Ford pickup truck. Thank you Al, your truck will forever be parked in my shop.
My wonderful brother Marty - who helped to start my love of cars with the cool ‘69 Chevelle SS paint job, and helped me find the parts for my shop lamp - also had a friend paint my logo on this car hood, a ‘67 Chevelle (a great year, btw!). My Brother is the best, thank you Marty!
This lovely lady hangs in my shop. Being a car gal, I like that it's a car hood ornament and also that it looks like she may be laying on a massage table.
This ornament graced the hood of the 1950's Nash Rambler cars. Nash automobiles were produced by Charles Nash, former President of General Motors. Nash Motors merged with Hudson Motors and eventually formed the American Motor Company.
The artist of this ornament is George Petty. Petty is recognized as one of the greatest illustrators of the female form. His works were often featured in Esquire Magazine, as well as on WWII bombers, including the famous "Memphis Belle."
Come and get a massage, you'll feel like you're flying, too!
